Growth: A message to my younger Self...

Life often feels like an endless series of landmarks, each one promising to bring us closer to fulfillment. As children, we imagine that growing older will unlock the secrets to happiness and success. As adults, we wait for the next promotion, the next relationship, or the next opportunity to signify that we’ve truly grown. But growth, as it turns out, is not about reaching a destination,it’s about the journey itself.

For many of us, growth is imagined as a straight, upward path. Each year, we hope to become wiser, more accomplished, and more content. We anticipate that aging will naturally bring progress, as though time alone has the power to transform us.

However, as the years pass, we realize that growth isn’t always linear. Some years feel stagnant, weighed down by struggles or self-doubt. Other years, we seem to regress, repeating old mistakes or wrestling with familiar insecurities. And yet, these moments are just as crucial to our growth as the ones where we feel triumphant.

True growth isn’t about checking off accomplishments or avoiding setbacks.Growth happens in the quiet moments, when we learn to forgive ourselves, when we try again after falling short, and when we let go of what no longer serves us.

If I could speak to my younger self, I would say: "Growth isn’t a race. It’s okay to stumble, to feel lost, to take your time. Each year doesn’t need to be monumental; some years are for planting seeds, others for watching them bloom. Trust that even the quietest seasons are shaping you in ways you may not yet see.Embrace the moments of uncertainty; they often lead you down paths of unexpected discovery. Celebrate small victories and learn from setbacks,  they’re all part of the journey. Remember that comparison is a thief of joy; focus instead on your progress and experiences.Surround yourself with those who lift you and understand that it’s okay to take breaks when needed. Life has its rhythms, sometimes you’ll sprint, but other times, walking slowly is just as important.
Trust in your journey; every step counts towards becoming who you're meant to be."
